Yoga practice is gentle and non-competitive and you should neither ask nor expect your body to do more than it is able to during yoga classes. It does not matter what the person on the next mat is doing, nor does it matter if you were able to do more or move further into a posture at your last yoga class. Yoga is only concerned about what is happening right now in the present moment.
Yoga practice improves your mindfulness. In these busy times when we are positively encouraged to multi-task and be “mind full” we need time to let go of all those thoughts and learn how to be “mindful” again and enjoy what we’re doing. Being “mind full” is a huge drain on our energy reserves. Being “mindful” helps to restore that.
